Dear Members,
On Tuesday, August the ninth, Judge Stephen Mitchell of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Alexandria, VA authorized the Company to solicit votes from its creditors related to its merger with America West and the reorganization plan. The America West Shareholders will meet to consider the merger on September 13. The plan is one of the final steps required for US Airways to emerge from Chapter 11 and to complete its merger with America West Airlines. Votes from creditors and other related parties must be received by Sept. 12, and a hearing to confirm the reorganization plan is scheduled for Sept. 15. The MEC is planning to attend the confirmation hearing in Alexandria. Teddy MEC President |
