Dear Members,

MEC Grievance Department E-Line Up-Date

August 2009 - Update on recently filed MEC Grievances

MEC Grievance # 2008-040-30-99-02 Unsuitable Lodging - PHX Twin Palms Hotel

This grievance was filed in 2008 and is scheduled for a Grievance Mediation hearing in CLT where we will present this case to the Federal Mediator assigned to US Airways.

Hopefully, we will have some information to report back on this issue, soon. If the decision at Grievance Mediation is not in our favor, we will strike for an Arbitrator and submit this Grievance to the System Board of Adjustments for an arbitration date which is the next step in our grievance process. I'm sure we will have some information by the end of August 2009.

MEC Grievance # 2009-052-30-99-02 (Equipment Substitution - Transoceanic Deadheading - Disparate treatment of flight attendants)

I was asked to file this MEC Grievance because it has come to our attention that there is disparity when it comes to dealing with the Flight Attendant group. If you are part of a crew flying an A330 trip to Europe and the Company has an equipment substitution and replaces that A/C with a B767-200, the Company will call another cockpit crew for that segment and the original flight attendant crew will work the flight. The original (A330) cockpit crew will deadhead as well as three (of the original 9) flight attendant crew. The company's past practice was to give the six deadheading crewmembers six cabin seats. Now, the company is giving the 3 pilots cabin seats and only 1 flight attendant. They are now making the other 2 deadheading flight attendants occupy f/a jumpseats because the company doesn't want to displace two additional passengers on full flights. The company has said if the flight isn't full, they will issue the other 2 deadheading flight attendants cabin seats - how nice.

The Association's position is that not only is this disparate treatment to our members, but we feel the jumpseats are not appropriate to deadhead on to or from Europe.

MEC Grievance # 2009-051-30-99-02 (International Premium Pay - LOD/O Flight Attendants-
Assignment Mode)

This MEC Grievance was filed because the Company is not paying LOD/O Flight Attendants an International Premium when they assign these Flight Attendants trips outside of their LODO- Position when the Company is in an Assignment Mode.

MEC Grievance # 2009-049-30-99-02 (Compensation for Extra Day of Training due to Broken
Company Equipment)

Some Flight Attendants had to Return for an Extra Training Day do to the fact that some A/C Mock-Ups were broken on their Training Day, and were made to return to CLT for hands on training. The Company will only offer these flight attendants $60.00 and per-diem for an entire day of travel and work.

MEC Grievance # 2009-041-30-99-02 (Over 65 LTD Benefits)

MEC Grievance # 2009-033-30-99-02 (Compensation for Lost Day of Training/Alleged Manual Infraction)

The Company is refusing to pay for an Extra Day of Training, after F/As show up for Training and are told they have one too many Alert Bulletins and are sent home and they then have to redo their Workbook. These Flight Attendants were not permitted to attend class and were made to come back to training and were not compensated for the Extra Day. They also received a Letter of warning placed in their file that will remain in their file for one active year.

MEC Grievance # 2009-042-30-99-02________(Block Holders Monthly Pay Protection/Violation of Contractually Protected ETB Time)

Pursuant to Section 24 of the Agreement between US Airways, Inc. and the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO, as the duly designated and authorized representative of the Flight Attendants employed by the Company, the Association requests an investigation and hearing based on the Company's violation of Sections 3-B.1a, b, and all related Sections of the Agreement. Furthermore, the company and the Union both have a long-standing past practice at US Airways East property of negotiating with the Association settlement agreements to address pay-protection for pre-planned flight cancellations.

MEC Grievance # 2009-042-30-99-02 RE: Past Practice Grievance - MEX Cancellations Pay Protection

The MEC Grievance Department filed this grievance. Although the Company has pay-protected these cancelled trips in accordance with our contract language, they have also added that any Vacation, trips picked up from the Electronic Trade Board or Availability Improvement List, outside of the Last Trip of The Month, will be deducted from the 71 hours that are guaranteed by Section 3B 1.a. Therefore, if you are a block-holder that needs to fly more than 71 hours, any trips you fly will be deducted from the 71 hours. The reason the last trip of the month is protected is because we have contractual language that addresses this issue.

If you have any questions regarding these MEC Grievances, please call your MEC Office @ 704-919-1732 Ext.105

Thank you,

Aida
