Dear Members,
June 09 Primaries: The Manager-Flight Attendant Scheduling, John Petronzi set the MAX in ALL bases at 90
hrs of Company time. The objective was a flight attendant window of 75-90
hrs. The way the pilot lines are built, by aircraft type, some lines were
beneath the minimum window. AFA agreed to publish such lines.

Less 75: Flight attendants awarded a line for less than 75:00 can come
in with such value or use the AIL. Additionally, the affected flight
attendants could SAP upward to 90 hrs of Company time (including vacation time)
to increase his/her flying time for the month. However, when SAP is utilized
the increased post SAP line value would be his/her new obligation including
vacation time.
Secondary Lines: The lines open May 7th at 1800 and close
May 12th at 1800. Any Secondary lineholder that wishes more Company
time (to a max of 90) may use the Augmentation process from May 14th
to May 21st or he/she use the AIL. When augmentation is utilized the
increased post augmentation value is the new obligation including vacation time.
Reserves: The maximum for the bid month will be 90 hrs; therefore, a
reserve June may out of time at 85:01.
June IT Lines With Line Lead-in Pairings – PHL: Look at PHL FAI Line
5309 and you will see pairing 51034 carrying-over from the May bid month into
June. Such pairing is owned by the originating crew in the May bid month;
however, duty period 2 of pairing 51034 is also placed in June’s
line 5309 as “artificial time” to create a legal line. Line 5309 has a published
value of 78+25 but when the “artificial block time” of 8+05 (dp2 of 51034) is
subtracted the recalculated value of the line will be 70+20.
The flight attendants that are awarded this line may come in with the
published time less the “artificial block time”. In this example, the
recalculated value of 70+20 will be entered as an adjusted obligation in CATS.
Or, the affected flight attendants could SAP upward to 90 hrs
of Company time (including vacation time). Any time SAP is utilized the
increased post SAP line value would be his/her new obligation for June.
Additionally, the AIL may be used to increase the flying time up to a maximum
90 hrs of Company time. However, in the case of using the AIL
this action increases your flying time (projection) but does not adjusted
the obligation of 70+20. Whenever a line lead-in is utilized to bring up
the value of a line the provisions on page 9-28 line 24 of the CBA applies.
Note: Use the above methodology to determine the recalculated obligation for
any other IT block when a line lead-in pairing is utilized. Note: Weekend
Touch – Line Lead-in Pairings: Whenever a line lead-in (artificial block
time) spans a Saturday or/and Sunday such affected flight attendants are NOT
required to “touch” for a restricted weekend.
SAP: Group 1 (PHL and BOS) opens April 24th at 1800 and
closes April 30th 1800. Group 2 (CLT, DCA LGA) opens April 24th
at 1800 and closes May 1st at 1800. The SAP non-high option window is MAX of 90
and MIN of 60. The SAP window has been expanded to allow for the oddity of the
extra blocking windows.
SAP Process: The most often misunderstood process in SAP is the
awarding of units out of numerical order and the affect this could have on the
remaining units of the more junior flight attendant. Many are unaware that when
a swap chain is being worked for a more senior flight attendant the junior
flight attendants’ unit may be worked out of sequence. Example: When the system
pointer is on PHL #1, the system will first check to see if the ADD pairing is
available in “Open Time” plus all other legalities. After checking O/T, if it
is determined that the desired ADD is not available the system will look for a
swap chain to satisfy the bid. See Page 40 of the SAP Manual.
SAP Message: When
you FIRST open option 37 and a comment other than “NO
PRE-SAP MTH-TO-MTH LEGALITY ERRORS FOUND” appears in the Message Section
you may type in “NO” on the Count Carry – In line and that will fix 95% of all
legality errors. (Read page 26 of the SAP manual for details related to
carryover in time). Additionally, you may place an L in the expand field on the
first ADD line and type NONE (on the ADD line) then hit enter. The system will
advise you as to your legality error. For Carryover Trip Conflicts
see page 27 of the SAP Manual for details. Legality errors must be
resolved otherwise all of your SAP units will be denied. Upon opening your SAP
screen it is recommended that you print it out as insurance that you are aware
no errors exist. The SAP Manual can be found on the HUB: InFlight-Forms and
Publications.Thank You
