Dear Members,
June Primary Lines of Flying
The Director of Crew Scheduling, Rob Fuhr set the June Maximums in
ALL bases at 90 of Company time. The blocking objective was a Flight Attendant window for June of 75-90. However, because of the way the pilot lines are built (by aircraft type) in CLT, PHL, LGA and DCA some lines exceeded the Maximum of 90. The lines were built as follows:

Per Rob Fuhr, flight attendants that receive a line that exceeds 90 are obligated for June to between 85 and 90 hours of Company time, not to include Electronic Trade Board (ETB) time. Therefore, flight attendants awarded a line that exceeds 90 may call Crew Scheduling and drop a trip to downward project the block or drop via SAP. Further, the AIL may be utilized to eventually get below the 90 hour maximum. Flight attendants in CLT, PHL, LGA & DCA who received such a block are encouraged to drop time during the SAP window which is 22/APR/1800 to 28/APR/1800(Group 1
PIT,PHL,BOS) and 29/APR/1800 (Group 2 CLT, DCA, LGA).
At the opposite end of the spectrum, PIT & LGA had some lines of flying that were blocked below 75 hours which was the proposed low end of the blocking window. AFA agreed to publish such lines in order to
give more flight attendants primary blocks. Those affected flight attendants may come in with the published time in his/her line of flying (less than 75) or SAP to increase his/her flying obligation. Example (1): A flight attendant receives a line worth 70 and does not participate in SAP, his/her line obligation for June is the published value of 70. Or, if he/she participated in SAP but his/her post SAP value is less than 70 because he/she dropped a trip worth 10, his/her June obligation would still be 70. Example (2): A Flight Attendant receives a line worth 70 and participates in SAP, his/her post SAP line value is 85. Per the Agreement, his/her obligation for June would be the greater of the line value or the post SAP value. Therefore, the obligation for this flight attendant is 85.
June International Transoceanic (IT) Lines of Flying Have Line Lead-in (PHL &
CLT): In Philadelphia and Charlotte, International Transoceanic (IT) lines of flying have Line Lead-ins published in the June blocks in order to bring such lines up to the minimum of 75 hours. Line Lead-ins are trips at transition time (May to June) built into IT lines of flying, as "dummy time" and said trip does not belong to the flight attendant awarded such line. As you know this practice has been on going for over 10 years and DOES afford the flight attendants more IT lines of flying, more continuity and some extra flexibility.
CLT Example 1: In June, look at Block 5016 which shows trip 21001 leading in from May in June. Trip 21001 originating on May 30th is "dummy time" because the flight attendants bidding Block 5016 do not own the trip. Therefore, line 5016 shows a published value of 81+10 but when 21001
(FRA duty period 2) worth 9+30 (dummy time) is subtracted the recalculated value is 71+40. Immediately following the award of line 5016, when SAP (option 37) is pulled up or Pay Summary (option 5) both of the respective screens will show 71+40 hours.
PHL Example 2: In June, look at Block 2899 which shows trip 96001 leading in from May in June. Trip 96001 originating on May 30th is "dummy time" because the flight attendants bidding Block 2899 do not own the trip. Therefore, line 2899 shows a published value of 82+45 but when 96001
(FCO duty period 2) worth 9+45 (dummy time) is subtracted the recalculated value is 73+00. Immediately following the award of line 2899, when SAP (option 37) is pulled up or Pay Summary (option 5) both of the respective screens will show 73+00.
Those affected flight attendants may come in with the published time in his/her line of flying less the "dummy time". In above cases the recalculated value is 71+40 (CLT EX.1) and 73+00 (PHL EX.2). Or SAP to increase his/her flying obligation in which case her post SAP line value would be his/her obligation for June.
June SAP Window: In June, the SAP maximum is 90 and minimum 60. The window was expanded to accommodate the oddities in the June block building process. Remember all rules pertaining to SAP still apply.
100/105-High Option: The SAP maximum is 105 and minimum 75
