| Reserve Vacation
Adjustments/Slipping: This is a big change from the old Agreement whereby a reserve could "slip" two days if he/she had a seven (7) day vacation period and none for less than seven (7). With the new Agreement the following applies: A reserve, at his/her option, may slip any or all of his/her days off without pay to provide time off before or after vacation periods of seven (7) or more days, and may slip up to three (3) of his/her days off without pay to provide time off before or after vacation periods of less than seven (7) days. Additional days may be slipped with Company consent according to the needs of the service. Example: Frank's vacation is from July 17th through 23rd for seven (7) days. As you can see, during his vacation period he has six (6) INV/OFF days. Therefore, he can slip 6 days in numerous combinations that are compatible with his vacation schedule. Frank wants to slip all 6 INV/ OFF within his vacation period. To do so, he calls Crew Scheduling as soon as possible or at least by the beginning of the applicable month. Frank elects to slip the OFF/INV days to the 14th, 15th, & 16th in front of his vacation and the 24th, 25th & 26th after his vacation was scheduled to end. As a result of the new provision, Frank will enjoy thirteen (13) days off instead of the originally scheduled seven (7) days. NOTE: Do not forget that on a vacation day or the attached adjusted OFF days a reserve may pick-up pairings via the ETB. Such ETB pairing(s) will be over and above his/her guarantee/reserve time. |
