AFA Disaster Relief Fund

AFA members and retirees,
whose primary residence is located in a federally-declared disaster area and
who have suffered damage and/or dislocation, are eligible for up to $200.00
from the AFA-DRF, if the funds are available. An application is included in
this package. Additional application forms are available on line at
www.afanet.org. Fax the completed form to 202-434-1411 or mail it to AFA

The purpose of the CWA
Disaster Relief Fund is to assist members who have sustained financial loss
which have created exceptional need as a result of natural disasters. The
maximum fund award is $1500.00 per eligible applicant. You can download an
application form (CWA

www.afanet.org. You must submit your
application through your local AFA union president. The Address of your LECP

Disaster Assistance for Union Plus Program Participants
The Union Plus Credit Card Disaster Relief Fund is available to help union
member cardholders who are facing financial hardship due to the California
fires. Union cardholders are eligible to apply for Disaster Relief Fund
grants of $500. The money does not have to be repaid. To qualify for a Union
Plus Credit Card Disaster Relief Fund grant, the union member must:

Have been a victim of the
wildfires in California.

Have experienced a
significant loss of income or property due to the disaster.

Have been a Union Plus
Credit Card holder for at least 12 months and have an account in good
standing.

Describe his or her
circumstances and document the income or property loss.
To apply for a Disaster Relief
Fund grant, cardholders can call the Union Plus Credit Card Disaster Relief
Fund at 1-877-761-5028. Other special assistance for cardholders includes
skip payments, lower rates, fee waivers and other help.
Disaster victims who participate in the Union Plus Loan, Auto Insurance,
Mortgage and Union Secure Insurance programs may be eligible to receive
payment extensions or other special help from the program providers.

Advice
All members of participating unions are also eligible for free credit
counseling through the Union Plus Credit Counseling Program and free legal
advice through the Union Plus Legal Service. For more information about the

Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) www.fema.gov
This Federal agency
distributes money and services to individuals in designated disaster areas
whose property has been damaged or destroyed and whose losses are not
covered by insurance. Assistance may include cash grants up to $26,000.

Housing Assistance/Personal Property
State Supplemental Grant Program - Housing assistance such as
temporary housing, repair, replacement, and permanent housing construction.
State Supplemental Grant Program - Other Needs Assistance can
cover items such as personal property, medical, dental, funeral,
transportation, and moving and storage.
These grants may be offered when assistance from FEMA's Individuals and
Households Program has been maximized. Once maximized, your FEMA application
is transferred to this program; there is no separate application process.

documents, such as birth certificates and marriage certificates that were

Department of Motor
Vehicles - Can assist individuals in replacing documents, such as
drivers' licenses, identification cards, vehicle registration certificates
or certificate of title that were lost in the fires. In addition, DMV can
assist in obtaining forms to change the status of vehicles that were damaged

Emergency Needs Referral
American Red Cross - Provides emergency food, clothing, shelter, and
medical assistance to needy individuals and families. To contact the Red

Information

Contractors State License
Board - Provides guidance on verifying a contractor's license,
investigates complaints, and also provides information about hiring a
licensed contractor. For information on hiring or filing a complaint
regarding a contractor, contact CSLB Disaster Hotline M-F from 8 a.m. - 5
p.m. at 1-800-962-1125, or 24-hour Automated Phone Response System 1-800-321

Tax Advice and Assistance
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) www.irs.gov
-The IRS offers special tax considerations for taxpayers experiencing loss

Franchise Tax Board - Provides guidance in obtaining tax relief for
disaster casualty losses. Contact the Franchise Tax Board at 1-800-852-5711,

California Board of Equalization - Offers extensions to file tax
returns and relief of interest and penalties to taxpayers and fee payers
directly affected by the disaster. Contact the Board of Equalization at
