AFA-CWA Sets Up Disaster Relief

We know that disasters can change lives forever. While we can't stop destructive events from happening, we can, as a Union, assist our brothers and sisters with their recovery. AFA-CWA established the AFA Disaster Relief Fund following September 11th to assist our members whose lives were placed in harms way. AFA members and retirees, whose primary residence is in a federally declared disaster area, and who have suffered damage and/or dislocation, are eligible for financial assistance from the AFA-CWA Disaster Relief Fund when funds are available.

Please consider making a donation. Through the AFA Flight Attendant Disaster Relief Fund, you will have a tremendous impact on the lives of flight attendants and our retirees. Your valuable financial support will be given directly to AFA Flight Attendants and Retirees trying to rebuild their lives -- at a time when many have little to build on. Our website mechanism for credit card donations will be up and running by early next week. Checks can be made out to and sent directly to:

If you have been evacuated from your home, please contact the American Red Cross at either 1-800-REDCROSS or on the web at http://www.disastersafe.redcross.org to list your "safe and well" status or, if you know of someone who has been evacuated, please encourage them to do the same. Family and friends of Southern California residents can use the American Red Cross site to confirm the safety of loved ones and to view postings. In the last 24 hours, over 245 Americans have listed their status with this Internet service.
