DCA Flight Attendant Receives Assistance in Hurricane Recovery
"The Union's Got My Back"
US Airways flight attendant and New Orleans resident Dorothy Reay received a $1,500 check from the CWA Disaster Relief Fund and an additional $200 from the AFA Employee Assistance Program this week. "Sometimes I hear people say 'what am I getting for my $39 a month?' I can tell them," she said. "The union stepped up and is there to support us, to protect us so companies can't treat you any way they want. Somebody's got your back. The union's got my back. You do your part and they go to bat for you." Dorothy's home was completely flooded and her nephew, his wife and seven children have not been located. We are hoping for the best-that they have found shelter and will be in touch soon. We hold them in our thoughts.
Please donate: If you would like to assist your fellow flight attendants impacted by the hurricane, please consider contributing to the AFA Disaster Relief Fund. Your donations will go directly to impacted members and retirees. Make your check payable to: 'AFA Disaster Relief Fund' and mail it to AFA Disaster Relief Fund, C/O International Secretary-Treasurer, 501 Third St. NW Washington, D.C. 20001.
