MEETING NOTICE
To
all Council 41 Flight Attendants:
Local meetings have been scheduled (see below) for the beginning of
January to discuss the proposal that you will be voting on.
In my letter to you dated December 22nd (See
HERE), I stated that I could not call the proposal a tentative agreement. On
Christmas Eve I received a call from US Airways Labor Relations regarding this
statement. The Company was concerned that I would not call their list of demands
a tentative agreement because technically it is considered a tentative because
AFA agreed under threat of liquidation.
I believe that a tentative agreement is one that we both negotiate. The Company
advised AFA from the beginning that there would not be negotiations and
ultimately there was none. Therefore I am unable to call the proposal a
tentative but just to clarify ladies and gentleman, it is.
This is not an agreement that I can wholeheartedly back but I still believe
that the threat of liquidation is real and you should too. Is liquidation a
viable business solution? Hell no. But you have to remember who is controlling
the money, David Bronner of the RSA group. If he pulls out his financing US
Airways will cease to exist. Does he care about our sick time? Does he care
about a reserve flight attendant? NO. He is a business man (call him a union
buster if you want) with a plan and if the plan does not go his way he will take
his money and run.
In Solidarity,
Bob Kenia |
