DCA Election Results
and Legislative Update
The elections for the Local Executive Council Officers
have closed with the following results.
LEC President
Alin Boswell
LEC Vice President Steve Schembs
LEC Secretary Stephen Smith
The term of office
begins 07/01/08 until 06/30/11.
Thank you to all who took the time to vote and to those
who submitted a willingness to serve Council 41.
Rep. Frank Wolf says NO to AFA-CWA members
Today Council 41 (US Airways DCA) and Council 21 (United
IAD) were informed by the staff for Rep. Frank Wolf (VA)
that he would NOT cosponsor HR 2744, the technical
correction to the Family and Medical Leave Act for
flight crew members. To quote his staff, "I had a chance
to speak with Mr. Wolf about the Airline Flight Crew
Technical Correction Act, and he is not interested in
cosponsoring the bill at this time. I think there may be
some airline concerns that it may give flight crew
members an unfair advantage over other employees by
having a lower threshold to qualify for FML."
To say the least we are not happy with Mr. Wolf's
decision. Mr. Wolf has a high concentration of flight
attendants who live in his district. A majority of the
members of the House of Representatives support this
legislation including some of the most conservative
members of the House.

call Mr. Wolf's office to ask that they reconsider this
decision. You can reach his DC office at 202.225.5136.

your representative. Below is a script you can use when
contacting the office.
My name is ______ and I calling as a voter in the
district and a flight attendant. I am asking that the
Congressman reconsider cosponsoring HR 2744, the Airline
Flight Crew Technical Corrections Act.
This bill is a priority for all flight crewmembers and
for me.
I would really appreciate the Congressman's support.
Again, ask the Congressman to please cosponsor HR 2744.
