Next Step for the New US
Airways Censorship
Dear
Council AFA-CWA Members,
Next Step for the New
US Airways:
Censorship!
Yes, you read it right... Censorship. I have been
informed that according to a directive from the Labor
Relations Department that US Airways will no longer
allow AFA-CWA access to the employee mail files for any
AFA-CWA information, up to and including birthday cards.
In this unprecedented move, US Airways is in violation
of a long standing past practice of allowing a free flow
of information between AFA-CWA and the members which we
serve.
This is yet another disgusting and disappointing turn of
events that again proves this inexperienced management
team has no desire to work with those who truly earn the
money that keeps this airline running and has generated
the profits the past several years. Regardless of the
various "focus groups" created by US Airways, this is
yet another attempt to silence the voice of labor. To be
honest, this is another attempt to silence your voice so
that you only hear one point of view, theirs. I lay this
at the feet of Sherri Shamblin and Cindi Simone, who,
regardless of what their CBS messages may say, don't
truly care what you have to say.
Unfortunately, Council 41 is in the middle of a LEC
election and the various candidates have always had the
ability to distribute information supporting their
candidacy. While AFA-CWA will fight this on every legal
angle, there most likely will not be a remedy by the
time of our election.
My pledge to you during this time is that I will be
mailing all information to you directly. While this will
be an added cost to Council 41, this will prove that the
Company can not stand in the way of your voice.
In Solidarity,
Alin Boswell - LEC President, DCA
Chairperson, Legislative Policy Committee
Association of Flight Attendants-CWA
