AFA Congressional Hero

Congressman Jim Moran

Representing many flight attendants as well as DC Reagan-National Airport, Congressman Jim Moran, Democrat from the 8th District of Virginia, is very familiar with flight attendant and aviation issues. The Congressman has always been supportive of the many Flight Attendants living in his District and around the country. Besides being a reliable supporter of our issues, Representative Moran can often be seen on the House floor speaking out on our issues. AFA-CWA is proud to call Congressman Jim Moran a reliable friend.

Congressman Jim Moran was elected to his eighth term in the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2004. He is a member of the Appropriations Committee, where he serves on the Defense Subcommittee and Interior Subcommittee

The Congressman represents the urban areas of Alexandria, Arlington and Reston in Virginia. The congressman can be reached in his Washington office at (202) 225-4376.

Mr. Moran cosponsored H.R. 4542. This legislation would put a halt to efforts that would allow foreign investors to come in and run our airlines. This would help make sure that ownership of U.S. airlines remains under the control of American citizens
Mr. Moran is an original cosponsor of the Leave All Blades Behind Act (H.R. 4452). This bill would reverse the decision by TSA that allows potentially dangerous weapons such as screwdrivers and scissors back onto our airplanes.
When management at Northwest said they wanted to outsource some of our flying partners jobs to cheaper foreign nationals, AFA-CWA took the lead in defending all Flight Attendant jobs from being outsourced. Mr. Moran joined over 100 other members of Congress in sending a letter to Northwest management saying NO to Flight Attendant outsourcing!
Congressman Moran understands that overworked and fatigued Flight Attendants are not able to perform the critical safety and security functions demanded of them. He joined 135 Democrats and 13 Republicans in a letter to the FAA demanding that they study the effects of Flight Attendant fatigue and work towards guaranteeing that all Flight Attendants receive adequate rest periods.
"The Association of Flight Attendants does an excellent job representing the men and women who make air travel safe and comfortable. Their professionalism in the sky readily transfers to the halls of Congress when advancing issues important to their members and the traveling public." - Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA)

AFA-CWA members must pool their financial resources to help elect more members like Jim Moran who will look out for our interests. We simply can't afford to give like the corporate bigwigs. This is why your contribution to FlightPAC is so crucial.
