Legislative Affairs Update September 9, 2008

Fellow North Carolina Crew Members, UPDATE: Senator Elizabeth Dole has agreed to CO-SPONSOR S.2059, the senate version of The Flight Crew Technical Corrections Act... THIS IS HUGE! As the past Labor Secretary and the past Transportation Secretary, and a strict opponent in when the bill came up in 1993, Senator Dole through your voices decided that leaving airline crew out of this RIGHT to FMLA was wrong. As family members and full-time workers, she saw what we faced. It was a battle but she "GOT" it. Senator Dole finally saw this was not a republican/democrat fight, or a labor union/corporation fight. It was a fight for the right to care for our families or ourselves in times of need. Please call or write Senator Dole to thank her for her support and remember when voting this year who has supported flight crews.

We are one republican away from avoiding a filibuster. Call your republican senators in Tn., Ky., Ga., Fl., TX, etc. This is the final push for FMLA before a new Administration.
