  • What's New!

Dear Members,

As most of you know, Mike Flores was recently elected to the position of MEC President and consequently resigned as Council 89 President. Upon his resignation, I assumed the position of your LEC President and Glenda Talley became the LEC Vice President and Secretary. According to the Constitution and Bylaws, Article III.C.5., "When the office of the President becomes vacant the Vice President shall complete the unexpired term as President and the Secretary shall act as Vice President and Secretary for the remainder of the unexpired term."

We are very pleased for Mike and believe that he will play an important role during the USA/AWA transition. Glenda and I want to assure you that we will continue to work on your behalf to address any situation that may arise within this council and we encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have in the future. We have both held offices in this council for a number of years and believe that our combined experience will serve you well.

Currently, we are experiencing some difficulty with our phone system (especially our voice mail) due to damage from a power surge. We ask for your patience while we work with Duke Power and Bell South to correct this problem. When you call, it would be very helpful if you left a message that includes your email so that we can communicate with you in the most timely fashion. You may also send us an email with your questions and concerns at acrowley@afausairways.org or gtalley@afausairways.org

During the month of November we have a number of grievance hearings scheduled and we are hoping to have a Benefits Seminar in the near future to address your retirement issues and questions. We are also working on updating our committees and, more specifically, have recently begun to work on a Reserve Committee that can answer your reserve questions should one of your officers be unavailable. If you are interested in serving on this or any other committee, please call or send an email.

We consider it a privilege to serve as your elected representatives and will continue to strive to exceed your expectations.

In solidarity,

Ann B Crowley
LEC President
Council 89
