Subject: Passport Stamping - Germany
We have just been informed of a new German Border
Police (BPOL) procedure that should help alleviate the
need for additional passport pages for airline crewmembers
flying to Europe. The BPOL police are offering to
place the stamp on a small sheet which is stapled to one
of the passport entry/departure pages. It is up to
the crewmember to choose whether or not they want the
entry/exit stamps placed on this sheet stapled to the
passport or directly on their passport itself.
This new German Border Police initiated document
can/may be issued to crew members upon request, either
during entrance to or exit from Germany. The
official name is "Einlegeblatt" or
"Inserted Page" and it consists of 2 pages. Upon
issuance, a BPOL officer validates the document with his
verification stamp, and signature. The following
information is then added to the form: Last-, first Name
Travel document Nbr. The document's purpose is to act as
proof of entry/exit stamp(s) in meeting the requirements
of (EC) Regulation Nbr. 2133/2004 (in order to avoid using
passport pages). It contains a total of 44 boxes,
which are used to place the entry/exit stamps, in lieu of
stamping the travelers actual passport. Once the 44 spaces
are spent, a new form may be issued. These pages should
not be removed until after exiting the country; but
preferably not until full, to avoid disfiguring the
passport pages with multiple staple marks. Feedback
