Dear
Council 89 Members,
PASSPORT EXPIRATION
Every US Airways crewmember must have a current and valid passport. Even though the company has required passports for many years, it is now mandated by the TSA that you have a current passport and that a copy must be on file with the company. If you need to renew your passport you can download the Documents (and instructions) at
www.travel.state.gov
(or you can call the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-888-874-7793 if you have any questions.) It is also possible to get an expedited
renewal which greatly speeds up the process and the company will reimburse you for both the renewal fee and the expedited fee. The current total for both is $127.00
Just remember to furnish the company with a copy of your new passport as soon as it arrives. Currently, the company is to send a reminder 30 days before your passport expires. If you have been proactive and renewed your passport months ahead of time, you will not receive this notice and could be facing a real surprise when you try to pick up a trip and are denied because your passport is on record as expired. If the company doesn’t have an "active" copy on file, the computer will not recognize you as an active crewmember and you will not be allowed to fly any International trip.
POSITION SELECTION 101
There still seems to be a misunderstanding with Section 9-35 of our agreement. When a flight attendant vacates a position, regardless of the reason, the flight attendant (reserve or block holder) filling the vacated position is awarded the open position. Do not assume you can take away the relinquished position when there is a crew change. If all the flight attendants agree to do so there can then be a redetermination of positions based on the seniority of the flight attendants.
ETB AND THE "DO NOT GIVE TO RESERVE COMMENTS"
Be advised that the comment section of the Electronic Trade Board is read only by your fellow crew members. Flight Attendant Scheduling awards the trips on a first come first serve basis and will not honor any special instructions you submit. The trade board is set up in such a way that when you post a Trade/Drop you are able to accept or decline the offer. Please refrain from any disparaging comments.
We all have our own personal opinions on how fair and effective the ETB works for us individually but at this time, it is not going to change. Your MEC is aware of your ETB concerns and are committed to working toward some resolutions in the future.
