URGENT - Call your Representatives Today RE: Foreign Control
Dear
Members,

URGENT - Call your Representatives Today RE: Foreign Control
As you all know, last week we suffered a setback on preventing the Administration from moving forward on their efforts to allow greater foreign control of US Airlines. We have not however, given up the fight. To keep up the fight, we need you to
TAKE ACTION NOW!
In the House of Representatives, the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Transportation is going to be considered. An amendment will be offered by Representatives Jim Oberstar (Dem-MN) and Frank LoBiondo (Rep - NJ) to the Transportation Appropriations bill that would in effect prevent the Administration from implementing any rules change that would grant foreign investors greater control of US Airlines.
I apologize for the short notice, but as is usually the case in legislative activities, these things come up at the last minute.
What we need you to do is to call your Representative immediately. Time is of the essence, so we need you to
call instead of emailing or writing. If you need to find your Representative's phone number, you can call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. You can also look up your Representatives contact information at
www.house.gov.
Once you have reached the office, ask the receptionist to speak to the staff person that handles transportation issues. You will most likely get their voice mail. You can also leave the message with the receptionist.
Here is a sample script to use when contacting them.
"I am a flight attendant and a constituent. I am calling to urge the Representative to vote FOR the Oberstar-LoBiondo amendment to the Transportation Appropriations bill when it is considered on the House floor. This amendment would prevent the Department of Transportation from moving forward with it's dangerous efforts to usurp Congressional authority and give foreign investors and companies greater control over U.S. airlines. Again, I strongly urge the Representative to vote FOR the Oberstar-LoBiondo amendment to the Transportation Appropriations bill. Thank you for your time. My name is _________ and if you have any questions, I can be reached at
XXX-XXX-XXXX."
Please spread the word to as many people as possible. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
