Dear Members,

LETTER TO CEO PARKER FROM GOVERNOR DUVAL PATRICK

A letter from Massachusetts Governor Duval Patrick was sent to CEO Parker urging for reconsideration of the plan to close the US Airways Boston domicile. This adds to the request sent by the Massachusetts Delegation on November 24, 2009.

Senators Kerry and Kirk / Congressmen Markey, Frank, Capuano, Delahunt, Lynch, McGovern, Neal, Olver, Tierney and Tsongas expressed concern over the closure and loss of jobs in Boston. In addition, their letter stated, "the economic impact on the region could be significant" and "the effect on working families would be devastating".

There is a real concern over the integrity of the US Airways Shuttle service. Use of the E190 originating out of the PHL domicile places on time performance and reliability risks that may drive away customers/business. The company touts the importance of the Shuttle in all of their statements yet once again will try and re-invent the wheel to mess it up. We are still hearing, like you, that the E190 aircraft which will be utilized for some of the shuttle service are still earmarked to be sold sooner rather than later. Consumer confidence in the shuttle product is in jeopardy. What then?

It is important that you express your concerns about how this decision will impact you, your family and your livelihood. Please express your concerns to your elected representatives.

AFA Boston continues to move forward planning for our upcoming meetings in January on the 20th and 22nd at the IAM Hall, E Boston, at the same time we remain encouraged by the support our elected officials have provided to all the crewmembers in Boston. The ball is in CEO Parker's court now. Let's hope he does not foul out.

We do hope that you will be able to celebrate some with your families during this Holiday season.
