Dear Members,

Well, the 'first' rush of the '05 Holiday season has begun and should slow down a bit until we approach the Christmas/New Years rush. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. For those of you that did fly, hopefully you were able to take advantage of the 'breakfast' and /or 'dinner' served not only in BOS but in various other bases. Holiday rewards this year…. breakfast and dinner….?

Contract on the HUB

AFA has been advised that the contract will be sent to the printers and should be available on the HUB sometime this week. I know, how many times have we heard this? Once available on the HUB, a copy of the contract and a copy of the last Guide to Implementation will be available for reference in the BOS Crew Room and will be stored in a CHAOS green binder. We have not been advised of the length of time it will take to print and when distribution to all flight attendants will commence. Of course once in receipt of your copy, please consider reviewing the contents and keeping it in your luggage for easy access.

ALPA VM/DH Settlement

The ALPA settlement did not bring back pay and credit for DH to 100%. Basically the result of the settlement brings back pay for a trip up to the five hours per day average. The settlement is for pay purposes only. Meaning the claim submitted for the difference is not credited time. AFA has been advised by John MCCann/Manager Claims, that if a pilot on your trip submits a claim and does not add the rest of the crew, claims will include the crew in the claim. If you believe you are due a claim, ask the pilots if they will be submitting a claim, if not, submit one and note ALPA Settlement on the PE80. Claims may be submitted electronically via the HUB or manually, paper forms are available in the BOS mail room. Please remember AFA did not loose the language in our T/A that deals with deadheads that replace a published working leg due to weather and/or mechanical. This deadhead should be claimed 100/100 as all deadheads in Catcrew will always reflect 50% pay no credit. ALPA never had this language and did not gain it with this settlement.

Local BOS Safety Chair

A candidate has been selected for the position of Local Safety Chair. This position was vacated by Joe Cybulski. Jill Atwood, who was a member of the Safety committee in PIT and PHL and is still active on the Safety committee transferred to BOS in September. She has been trained in working with the NTSB in the event of an incident/accident investigation and has had training regarding blood born pathogens. She was very involved in PIT during and after the events of 9/11. Should you have any Safety related questions or concerns, please contact Jill Atwood - 781 289 8375/ 412 716 0154 e-mail: jillinthesky@hotmail.com

Local BOS EAP-Professional Standards / Local BOS Crew Accommodations Chair

Any flight attendant interested in the position of Local EAP-Professional Standards Chair or Local Crew Accommodations Chair, please contact the Council/69/BOS LECP - Lcaramello@afausairways.org for further information. Briefly, the EAP-Professional Standards Chair position requires an interview and discussion with the MEC Chair Deb McCormick. Kathy Daniels was the former Local BOS Chair and has vacated the position. A review of the EAP-Professional Standards committee responsibilities may be viewed on the USAirways AFA website www.afausairways.org / EAP PAGE. Information regarding the Crew Accommodations Chair responsibilities will be provided by the BOS LECP and the MEC Crew Accommodations Chair, Perry Lopez. The BOS Local Crew Accommodation position was vacated by Paul Foran. Paul is still an active member of the committee and is based in PHL. It is recommended that interested candidates for both of these positions have a home computer.

MEC Uniform Committee

The MEC Uniform Committee Co-Chairs have submitted their first update via the AFA MEC E-Line - www.afausairways.org . "Corporate Casual" seems to be the style direction of our new uniform. Also mentioned in their update; a meeting with four vendors who will provide style samples. Should any flight attendant want to provide feedback, please consider contacting the MEC Uniform Committee Co-Chairs, Candi Covelli at ccovelli@afausairways.org or Brian Morgan at bmorgan@afausairways.org

Thanks,
Lynne Caramello
