VFLR I / VFLR II Unemployment Compensation
As noted in a recent MEC E-Line, entitled VFLR Unemployment Claims dated 8/24/05, information regarding a case in New York concerning the denial of unemployment compensation of a LGA
Flight Attendant (VFLR I), a subsequent appeal and an unsuccessful result was detailed. The MEC has filed a grievance regarding this situation and as of this date a resolution has not been reached with the Company.
Unemployment Tax Control Associates (UTCA) hired by the company as a third party vendor to administer these claims against their Unemployment Insurance Program has provided improper unnecessary information to New York adjudicators about the claimant that caused the denial of compensation.
Each state has different policies and claims are handled differently based on the information provided by UTCA.
In Massachusetts, Paul Connolly, Director of Policies and Determination Massachusetts Unemployment was provided, in advance, the VFLR language and although BOS
Flight Attendants participating in the VFLR program (June departure) were questioned by adjusters, these participants were successful in collecting unemployment compensation.
