FYI - Vacation Bidding Information
Round 1: As we know, for year 2005 only because of programming problems F/As could not bid any days in a group of 2 as the system would only award 3 or more. The company allowed, for 2005 only, F/As to bid more than one set of three if desired. Filler days could continue to be bid. Now closed.
Round 2: Currently open
When bidding in Round 2, catcrew screen 14, you must tab to BID A and change the A to B in order to successfully complete the bid. You then go to catcrew screen 13, hit enter, and print your bid. |
BOSTON NOTES CORRECTION
Vacation Bidding Round 2/Round 3 Assigning
An e-mail message was received this morning from Tim Gunsteen regarding how the vacation program will assign days.
He has advised, the previous information he provided was incorrect and after a review with the vacation programmer, the computer will make 2 passes when assigning/ Round 3.
Pass #1 - the program will look to assign as many days together in a group as it can. In other words, it WILL NOT split, as given in the BOS example: BOS - 1 day available 12/26. The program would first go to 12/1-10; if no 2 days are available it would move to Nov, look for two days and continue to move forward until this can be accomplished etc.
Pass #2 - Only if there is a single day left over would a single day assignment be met. If only single days are left over then single day assignments would have to be given.
Please note these corrections. |

If not at maximum (20%) filler days, re-bid days can be bid as filler days.
The vacation award system assigns days left AFTER Round 2 bid from December forward, to November / October etc.
If a F/A, after Round 2 has closed, still has 2 vacation days left and the system begins to assign the program WILL SPLIT down to one day if the first vacation day hit in December is a single day.
Example: In BOS, 12/26 is a single vacation day available, if a F/A still has two (2) days the system would split this group and assign, in seniority order, 12/26 and move forward to the next vacation day/days for another single day assignment.
According to Tim Gunsteen, the program would not skip over this single day to seek out two days together.
Any days left over after this entire process, if not taken in the monthly re-bid, is required to be a part of the filler day pool.
Please keep this information in mind when bidding in Round 2.
Bids close Wednesday, March 9th.
