Dear Members,

OVER FLY - REMINDER

This issue has surfaced over and over again. Everyone knows what it means but does everyone know its effects? Over fly effects flight attendants of various seniority levels but especially the more junior and/or reserve flight attendants because the flying time does not trickle down to allow this group of flight attendants the ability to be awarded/assigned the time. Open time in a small base is at times already non existent but if over flying became the rule for the flight attendant group instead of the exception due to irregular situations, trip time would just not trickle down.

When the Electronic Trade Board (ETB) came on line there was a learning curve associated with it especially remembering to keep track of your company time versus flight attendant time and some flight attendants did get themselves in over fly situations more than once. Now that the Electronic Trade Board (ETB) has become part of the everyday for the flight attendant group, the over fly situations really should be at a minimum and attributed to an irregular situation during the month. Section 9-20 F in the Flight Attendant agreement can assist in explaining how to make adjustments during the month of flying.

Please try to remain cognizant of your flying hours during the course of the month so not to get yourself in an over fly situation.

Thanks,
