Dear Members,

United Health Care Issues

AFA has been advised that flight attendants and other employees are having difficulties with the UHC. Employees have contacted physicians only to discover that the physicians are retired, do not accept UHC, even discovering upon a visit to their physician, who is on the provider's list, that their physician no longer accepts UHC patients.

The list on the www.myuhc.com website is out dated. We have become aware of flight attendants and pilots living in NH or the Cape Cod area that are having difficulties but have also discovered that it not just isolated in these areas. AFA has been advised by the company that David Marcus, Director of Health and Welfare is hearing from many employees regarding these difficulties. Boston based flight attendants have already contacted David Marcus. The company has also advised that providing more staffing to handle all of these issues and to assist in resolving issues is being discussed. Due to these continuous unresolved complaints, the AFA MEC President will address this issue with the company while in Phoenix this week and it is expected that we will be provided with an update on the company's resolution regarding the deficiencies associated with UHC.

If you are having difficulties in finding a physician that accepts UHC or getting your current physician to accept UHC, I encourage you to contact David Marcus, Director of Health and Welfare - david_marcus@usairways.com 1 480-693-8865 - Explain your circumstance verbally or by e-mail and ask for assistance. The company has stated that they are committed to getting more providers into the plan. If all of the employees that are having the same difficulties contact the company perhaps the company will recognize that we need a fix right now, not months from now.

The Uniform is coming! The Uniform is coming!

On Wednesday, February 21st, at a crew base near you, a Uniform fashion show, with all the different pieces, except the coat, will take place. In Boston, it will take place from 2:30pm - 4:30pm (we are being advised) - in the area of shuttle gates 21 and 22. Every employee is invited and you will be able to meet the designer and PROVIDE feedback about anything and everything surrounding these uniform pieces. We are being told that sketches will be posted and available for viewing during the show. We encourage you to try an make a show but for those of you who will miss the show, the uniform will appear on the HUB, sometime late February so that employees can view the pieces to provide additional feedback. Eventually, we will see some uniform pieces appear on our co-workers selected to model the pieces while at work. All of the times for all of the base shows are posted on the AFA Board in the BOS Crew Room and also on the AFA Website on the Uniform E-line. If you are flying on that day, check it out as you may be at another base during a show. The AFA MEC Uniform Chairs did not select the times, marketing created the aggressive schedule for these base shows. If you are around, come in to take a look, offer some commentary / questions/concerns. BOS Uniform Representatives - Heather Santello / Ian Daniel

Recurrent/Transition Training combination

Please remember if your recurrent month is February, March or April and you would like to schedule Recurrent and Transition Training together, the company will pick up the cost of the hotel. If you are having difficulties in getting the dates together and /or the Training department is not allowing you to schedule these days together due to the limit of BOS f/as allowed in each Transition Training on a daily basis (2), please contact the LECP/BOS. If all other bases are being allowed to schedule these days together plus BOS f/as are being assigned Transition Training inversely, then BOS f/as requests should be honored. The only reason a request should be denied is if one or both classes are full on the dates selected.

There is so much information on the Union.org website along with information on scholarships and discounts on a variety of services, as a union member you are entitled to the services and discounts found on this site, please take the time to visit the website. Below is information on Legal services.

Did You Know?

Legal Services

If you're like most Americans you may need to employ a lawyer's service at some point during your lifetime. But chances are you don't know of one or you may be worried about the cost. That's why Union Plus started the Legal Program to help union members find quality lawyers without hefty fees. Find a lawyer to help you with your legal needs at www.UnionPlus.org/Legal.

Did you know that the Union Plus Legal Program has lawyers to help you take care of every day legal issues?
Lawyers can help you properly carry out a number of common procedures like writing a will or marriage contract, getting a divorce, filing for
bankruptcy, starting a business, buying a house or even just clearing up confusing legal wording before you sign a contract. In many of these cases, some good legal advice may be just what the lawyer ordered. For the name of an attorney near you, call us at 1-888-993-8886 or visit www.UnionPlus.org/Legal.

Did you know that the Union Plus Legal Service Program is available to union members, spouses and their dependents?
There is no limit to the number of free consultations as long as each is about a different problem. If you have a complex matter, you will receive a 30% discount off the attorney's normal fee. If there is a fee, the attorney will provide you with a written fee agreement in advance.

Did you know that there are a variety of free legal services available to union members?
The free consultation of up to 30 minutes can be done over the phone or in person at the law office. The attorney may also follow up with a simple letter or phone call if it is likely to clear up your matter.

Did you know that you should always ask your attorney for a written fee agreement before you proceed with a case?
The agreement gives you a written estimate of how much a case will cost and how much of your attorney's time it will take. The agreement should cover not only the amount of the fee or the basis for figuring it, but when it is payable. Note that one-time transactions, wills for example, don't normally require a fee agreement.

Did you know that the Union Plus Legal Program requires no sign-up to use the service?
Unlike many legal services which require enrollment forms and sign-up fees, the Union Plus Legal Program is free and easy to use. Your union membership immediately gives you immediate access to more than 2,000 lawyers, many of whom are recommended by union leaders. If you have a legal question or concern, your first and only stop should be www.UnionPlus.org/Legal or 1-888-993-8886.
