Dear Members,
Leave All Blades Behind Campaign
As noted in recent press releases the Leave All Blades Behind campaign on January 30th was successful in getting the message out to the flying public that TSA has lifted the ban on some of the restricted items that passengers can bring on board the aircraft and it is a safety risk we are not willing to take. There is still time to sign the on line petition against this decision. Tell all you know to go to

Merger Info Program
The primary objective of this program is to be a communication link between the Merger Negotiating Committee and the line flight attendants. The MEC VP will serve as the initial coordinator of the program by gathering the latest information regarding the merger negotiations, creating and distributing the merger information cards to the local councils, which will then be distributed to the flight attendants. Any flight attendants who wish to participate by distributing these cards either on your trips to other flight attendants, mail files, or while in the crew room, please contact the Council 69 Officers.
MEC Newsletter
An MEC Newsletter is currently being formulated for a late spring delivery to your mail file. Reports and articles written by the MEC Officers and Committee Chairs will be included for your perusal.
2004 Contract
The 2004 contract will be available for each flight attendant this week. Really! Please take the time to review and ALWAYS keep it with you while at work. It is expected that we will be living under this contract for at least another year.
Local Uniform Chairs
The MEC Uniform Committee Co Chairs are requesting that each Council elect a male and female Local chair. One of the responsibilities of the Local Uniform Committee Co Chairs is to inform the flight attendants of the electronic feedback venue as well as provide verbal feedback to the MEC Chairs. Additionally, feedback received regarding issues with uniform orders etc. should be collected and provided to the MEC Chairs. Local Uniform Committee Chairs may also be asked to wear 'test' items for the new uniform. Nominations and elections will take place at the next Council/69 local meeting. The successful candidates will be decided by a majority vote of members present at the meeting.
MEC Reserve Chair
A notice for an election for MEC Reserve Chair will be available in a future MEC E-Line. Interested flight attendants will be able to provide a resume and /or fill out an application along with a willingness to serve form. Details will be provided via this venue and an election for interested candidates is expected to take place at the June MEC Meeting.
Local Council/69 Meetings
Speaking of meetings, (2) two Local Council/69 meetings will be held on Friday, April 7, 2006 and Monday, April 24, 2006. The location of these meetings will be the same - IAM Hall, 830 Saratoga Street, East Boston. Information on times and formal agendas will be forthcoming. An election of the Local Uniform Committee Chairs will be at the Friday, April 7th meeting.
Please stay tuned and check the AFA Crew room board.
Thanks,
Lynne Caramello
